Brave New World Chapter: 6 "What a time to be Alive"

"Progress is lovely, isn't it?" (Huxley 100).

Lenina's hypnopaedic phrases seem to irritate Bernard, but he can't find any evidence that disproves her statements. This is because there is no evidence that disproves the statement. Progress is something that develops more and more over time, and as we have seen throughout the past few blogs, technology has been progressing to help comfort people in  the Brave New World. Soma, for example, has been created as a distraction from all the stressful/ painful situations that someone may be in. the director in Brave New World was lost in the savage reservation at one point in his life He had lost his soma and the pain from his fall was agonizing and prevented him from getting back to the house for some time. If the Director had not lost his soma, his way back to the rest house would have been pain free and much much quicker, allowing less time for blood loss. As technology progresses, the luxuries of being born in this time become even greater. What a time to be alive.
